Herring's top group consists of Tennessee, Clemson, Florida State, Alabama, Georgia, Florida, LSU and Ole Miss.

The consensus 4-star recruit has early offers from Alabama, Auburn, California, Clemson, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, Iowa, Kentucky, Louisville, Mississippi, Mississippi State, Missouri, Oklahoma, Penn State, South Carolina, Tennessee and UCLA.

He missed a majority of the 2014 season with a ACL tear in his left knee but appears to have fully recovered.
