3-star 2017 offensive tackle
Summie Carlay from Laurens, S.C. (Laurens HS) visited Clemson with his family over the weekend.
TigerNet spoke with Carlay on Monday morning, and he had very positive things to say about his visit to TigerTown. "It was good," Carlay said. "I enjoyed meeting the coaches and seeing their great facilities. Everything was top notch. You can tell that they take a lot of pride in having a good, clean campus and facilities." The in-state lineman said that he and his family were able to spend some time with members of the Clemson coaching staff. "Dabo spoke to the group as a whole. You could tell he has great energy," Carlay said. "I also talked to coach Brooks, my area recruiter, briefly. I liked him too. My favorite coach was offensive line coach Robbie Caldwell. He ate with my family and talked with me some. He's a funny guy, and it's easy to see that he has a passion for the game. We were all excited and had a great time." Carlay does not currently hold an offer from Clemson but was invited back for a future visit. He has offers from Coastal Carolina, North Carolina State, South Carolina and Southern Mississippi. "They did not offer but they said they will keep following me and invited me to the spring game," Carlay said. "I knew going in that they had three offensive line commits, and they had other national prospect targets, so my focus was to enjoy the day and soak everything in. As far as a visit I'll have to see what other schools want me to visit and how much time I have to dedicate to each school." Had a great time at Clemson junior day!
