Jonathan French - Catcher
Height: 6-0   Weight: 185   Hometown: Lilburn, GA (Parkview HS)   Class: 2019

2019 catcher Jonathan French from Lilburn, GA (Parkview) has committed to play for Clemson on Saturday.

TigerNet spoke with him soon after his commitment and he was excited to play for the Tigers.

"I picked Clemson because I really felt like it was the right place for me," French said. "It felt right ever since I stepped on campus and it's where both me and my family see me playing in the future."

French had some other offers but he knew that Clemson was the place for him.

"I had previously been offered by Troy and Kennesaw. Vanderbilt, Georgia, and Georgia Tech had an interest in me, but I knew for sure Clemson was where I wanted to go."

French hit .325 with 8 homers and 33 RBIs this season.

He is already a 6-0, 185-pound catcher and plays for Team Elite Prime during the summer and fall. He was named an Underclass High Honorable mention performer the last two seasons by Perfect Game USA.

Bio from Perfect Game USA: Jonathan French is a 2019 C/RHP/3B with a 6-0 185 lb. frame from Lilburn, GA who attends Parkview High School. Medium build and frame, high end athleticism, and room to continue to fill out physically and add strength. Posted a very impressive 6.81 time in the 60 yard dash. Primary catcher, side saddle start, shorter arm action, quickness through footwork, and arm strength up to 76 mph. Posted a workout pop time of 2.02. At the plate, started with a spread stance, slightly open base, high back elbow, and a simple leg lift timing mechanism. Shifted well to the ball with a loose, extended hand path. Strength through the ball with ability to lift and drive. Best carry to pull side gap. Also pitched, short rocker step into delivery, leg raise past belt, gathered well at balance point, and showed a long arm action, slight wrist wrap, and good arm speed. Threw from a three quarter arm slot with a fastball that worked 83-87 mph with good arm side life. Showed good feel for 11/6 shaped curveball with willingness to double down for strikes. Good pace on the mound and also showed a changeup at 79 mph with short fade. Good student. Named to the Top Prospect List.
