2018 shortstop Bryar Hawkins from Cummings, Georgia committed to Clemson according to his Twitter account.
Hawkins is a talented shortstop and a right-handed pitcher from West Forsyth high school that grew up liking the Tigers.
Here is a bio on him from Perfect Game USA: Medium-large frame with lean, athletic and well-proportioned build, still has room to fill out. Primary middle infielder, shows good lateral agility and range. Loose, fluid actions with quickness, polished actions with ability to throw accurately across the diamond from a variety of arm slots. Right handed hitter, solid weight shift with energetic swing. Repeats line-drive plane well and shows good hand strength and quickness. Comfortable in using the entire field, hit well in games and controlled the barrel well. Also pitches, varies arm slots and keeps hitters off balance. Can throw strikes from sidearm slot or 3/4 slot. Fastball up to 81 mph, shows good running action. Solid command of pitch, sets up hitters for offspeed. Solid feel for curveball with 11/5 shape, flashed developing feel for changeup with some later depth and finish. Good student.
He was a 2016 Underclass Honorable Mention performer by Perfect Game USA.
