Watson ranked as a Top 10 CFB Offensive Player |
NFL.com released its latest article ranking the
Top 15 offensive players in the nation for 2015 and Clemson's quarterback Deshaun Watson was listed #9 overall.
"Watson was heralded as a budding star after breaking school freshman records in his first career start with 435 yards and six touchdown passes, a 50-35 win over North Carolina," NFL.com said. "But that came against one of the worst defenses in the country -- he was actually more impressive a week earlier, in a relief role, when he took FSU to the wire on the road before losing in overtime. Several injuries, including a torn ACL, marred his freshman season. Still, he managed to inspire Clemson fans with huge hopes for the future in completing 93 of 137 passes (68 percent) for 1,466 yards, 14 touchdowns and just two interceptions." In his rookie campaign, Watson had a tremendous quarterback rating of 188.57 and led the nation with a 10.7 yards per pass attempt. Watson should be ready to go from his torn ACL for fall practice in August. Other ACC players on the ranked list include Florida State's Dalvin Cook (#12 overall) and Pittsburgh's James Conner (#10 overall).
