"I thought they were messing with me when they said they were going to pick me," Watkins said on the NFL Network. "But they trust in me and they believe in me and now it’s time to start playing." The Cleveland Browns had the 4th pick but traded it to Buffalo for the Bills' No. 9 pick and 2 picks next year (1st Round and 4th Round). Watkins joins former Tigers C.J. Spiller, Jonathan Meeks, Antoine McClain and Chris Hairston with the Bills. "He is a beast in the open field after the catch," ESPN Analyst Mel Kiper said on the live draft show. "He is one of the best I have seen in 36 years of doing this [scouting]. When the ball is his hands in the open field he will run you over." Banks McFadden (1939, Brooklyn) and Gaines Adams (2007, Tampa Bay) were both the number-four selection of the NFL draft after their respective senior seasons. "This is the most exciting player in the NFL Draft," former All-Pro linebacker Ray Lewsi said on ESPN's live show. "He is what the game is going to. A playmaker that I can get the ball in his hands. He can make any play from anywhere on the field. Sammy Watkins is the most dynamic receiver that we’ve seen come out in the last five to ten years of football because of his explosiveness. What a lot of people don’t understand about him is his eye control and his ability to catch the ball with his hands. A lot of fast receivers, you don’t see them catch the ball with their hands. That is what makes him such a dynamic receiver. This is an awesome pick for them. I just think this is truly special." Watkins had a record-breaking season for the Tigers with 101 receptions for 1464 yards and 12 touchdowns. He was a finalist for the Biletnikof Award and was a first-team All-American. He finished his Clemson career as the schools career leader in receptions and reception yardage.
