WATCH: Throwback Thursday - Swinney sacks Spurrier's punter in 1992

by - Assoc. Editor -

TigerNet.com's Throwback Thursday is a short clip of Dabo Swinney sacking the Florida punter with Steve Spurrier coaching the Gators in the 1992 SEC Championship game.

Swinney talked about the play on Tuesday at his weekly media press conference after learning of Spurrier's abrupt retirement.

"Coach Spurrier and I have been competing against each other since 1989 when I was a player," Swinney said. "I remember vividly when he came to Florida because he was different and he brought a different philosophy to the game and changed a lot of things in college football. All of those years he was at Florida I was at Alabama. I actually sacked his punter in the first SEC Championship Game, and I think he threw his visor."
