CLEMSON - Chris Williams walked with the bases loaded and two outs in the bottom of the ninth as No. 3 Clemson scored three runs in overcoming a 7-5 deficit, defeating No. 17 Wake Forest 8-7 Friday night at Doug Kingsmore Stadium.

Clemson improves to 32-7 overall and 15-4 in the ACC, while Wake falls to 28-12, 12-7. Jacob Hennessy picked up the win, getting out of a jam in the ninth. He improves to 2-1 on the season. Clemson is now 8-1 in one-run games this season.

First-place Louisville – ahead of Clemson by a game in the standings heading into the day – lost 5-3 to Duke earlier in the day and the teams are tied atop the Atlantic Division standings.

Due to the threat of inclement weather Sunday, the teams will play a doubleheader that will begin at 2 p.m. Saturday.
