CBSSports.com has released its first round of their 2016 NFL Mock Draft and three Clemson defenders made the list.
Defensive back Mackensie Alexander was projected to go at the #11 overall pick to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
"Tampa will address the cornerback position next off-season, either in free agency or the draft, possibly both," CBSSports.com said. "Alexander doesn't have ideal size, but he has the speed and aggressive nature to blanket receivers."
Alexander has 23 tackles and four pass deflections on the season.
He was the second CB off the board in the mock draft after Florida's Vernon Hargreaves (#6 overall).
Defensive end Shaq Lawson was predicted to be selected at the #13 overall pick to the Miami Dolphins.
"Lawson is an NFL-ready pass rusher who has the upper body strength to hold the point and the lower body athleticism to keep blockers on their toes," CBSSports.com said.
He has 62 tackles this year, including 17.5 tackles for loss, 7.5 of which are sacks.
Lawson was the second DE off the board in the mock draft after Ohio State's Joey Bosa (#1 overall).
Safety Jayron Kearse was projected to be picked at the #25 overall selection to the Pittsburgh Steelers.
"A tall, thin defensive back, Kearse has terrific range and football instincts, allowing him to track and cover the entire field, something the Steelers would welcome to the secondary," CBSSports.com said.
Kearse was the first safety off the board in the mock draft.
He has 57 tackles, five pass deflections, a blocked field goal and an interception on the season.
