CLEMSON - Another attempt at vandalism has been made on Howard's Rock. TigerNet confirmed Wednesday morning that the glass case on the pedestal that holds the iconic Clemson symbol was broken.
There is no word on when the attempt took place and I have been told it is an ongoing police investigation and there will be a statement from the school at some point today.
The rock was initially vandalized on June 2 of 2013. The protective casing was destroyed and a chunk of the rock was chipped away. That case has yet to go to trial.
Stay tuned to TigerNet and we will release the latest info as it becomes available.
UPDATE: Clemson released a statement after the news broke on Wednesday morning.
"Early Wednesday morning, the case protecting Howard's Rock was damaged. Howard's Rock itself does not appear to be damaged in any way, and Clemson has begun plans to secure it until the case is repaired. Clemson University are currently investigating, and we will provide more information as available. If you have any infomation, please call CUPD at 656-2222."
