Louisville players upset over #5 CFB ranking |
The College Football Playoff Committee chose Alabama (#1 seed), Ohio State (#2 seed), Michigan (#3 seed) and Clemson (#4 seed) as the four teams projected in the playoff.
CFB Committee chair Kirby Hocutt shared on Tuesday night the committee's reasoning why Clemson was ranked above Louisville. "Louisville has been viewed as a very talented team," Hocutt said. "There is a small separation between teams two through six. When you look at #4 Clemson and #5 Louisville, Clemson has three wins against CFP top 25 teams compared to one for Louisville at this time and the committee still places a high value on the head to head Clemson has over Louisville at this time as well." Clemson has the head-to-head win over Louisville, and the Tigers' combined FBS teams they have beaten are 50-29 while Louisville's team wins are a combined 39-51. The Tigers also have four wins over current ranked teams with Louisville, Auburn, Florida State, and Troy while Louisville only has a ranked win over Florida State. LV SuperBook has Louisville as a 2.5 point favorite against Clemson if they played again in the playoff. Several Louisville football players took to Twitter on Tuesday night to voice their displeasure of their #5 ranking in the College Football Playoff ranking. Rigged for sure Ima sick of this college football playoff ?? So Clemson and Michigan can lose to unranked teams and stay in the top 4... that's crazy Haters boi I tell ya I'm about to blow a gasket lmao @CFBPlayoff y'all got us messed up Everything happens for a reason right?
