John Swofford on Clemson's win |
According to an interview with the Orlando Sentinel, ACC commissioner John Swofford spoke about the ACC's opening weekend slate of games including Clemson's big win over Georgia.
JS: “I’m really pleased for Dabo [Swinney], the team and those fans. It’s a great way to start the year. The only game in the country this past weekend with two top ten teams playing each other. They took advantage of an opportunity. It gives them a chance to move on and do something special. A great win for our league.” Q: It was a big win for Clemson, but a bigger win for the ACC as a league against a top conference like the SEC. JS: “I’ve always said that you have to create some opportunities and our schools are doing that. We’re playing the toughest non-conference schedule of any conference in the country. That can be good or bad. If you can win your fair share of those games, it can be really good for you.
Q: Speaking of positive openings, Clemson got a big win against Georgia. What did you think of it?
