According to Winston-Salem Journal:

"Coming in (to college), I wasn't highly recruited," Hairston said. "Coach (Tommy Bowden) took a chance on me, and I was able to get into a program with a great O-line coach and a whole lot of great talent. I was able to grow every year, and try to get better and better.

"It took a lot of work and I really had to learn how to play the game of football. I was very raw when I first got there.

"Now, a lot of hard work has paid off and I'm excited to be coming up to Buffalo and playing."

Hairston was an All-ACC first-team selection last season. He said that his improvement at Clemson was the product of knocking heads daily in practice for four seasons against a defensive line that included the late Gaines Adams, Da'Quan Bowers and Ricky SappRicky Sapp

, in Buffalo. Spiller was a rookie last season.

"It's going to bring back good old times just having a guy with that much talent in the backfield," Hairston said. "I've seen what he was able to do on the field and witness him make game-breaking plays. It's just going to be good to get back with him and play ball with some people I have played ball with in the past."
