Four Tigers named to All-Bowl Teams

Clemson, S.C.—Four Clemson football players have been named to various All-Bowl teams released this week. The list of players honored for their performances against Oklahoma and Alabama during the bowl season are quarterback Deshaun Watson, offensive guard Eric Mac Lain, offensive tackle Mitch Hyatt and defensive end Kevin Dodd.

Watson was named to All-Bowl teams chosen by ESPN, USA Today, and Sports Illustrated. The sophomore signal caller threw for 405 yards and rushed for 73 for a College Football Playoff championship game record of 478 yards of total offense. He led threw for four touchdown passes in Clemson’s loss to Alabama in the championship game.

Mac Lain, who started all 15 games this year in the offensive line, was named to All-Bowl teams chosen by ESPN, Rivals.com and the Associated Press. He was a big reason Clemson gained 550 yards of total offense against Alabama’s defense, the No. 2 ranked total defense in the nation entering the game. Clemson was just the second team to score over 20 points against the Crimson Tide this year.

Hyatt, a true freshman who has made every freshman All-America team this year, was also a big factor in the Tigers productive offense. He played 80 snaps and graded 87 percent in helping the Tigers score five touchdowns. He was named to the All-Bowl team selected by USA Today.

Dodd set a Clemson bowl game record with five tackles for loss, including three sacks against Alabama. He was named to All-Bowl teams selected by ESPN, USA Today and Si.com. The 5.0 tackles for loss were the most in the nation by any player in the bowl season. He also had 3.5 tackles for loss in the win over Oklahoma. Dodd finished the season with 23.5 tackles for loss, second nationally to the 25.5 recorded by teammate Shaq Lawson.
