NFL.com released its latest article on Monday ranking the leading candidates for the 2016 Heisman trophy award.

Clemson sophomore quarterback Deshaun Watson was ranked the leading candidate for next year's Heisman Trophy award as Watson finished third in the 2015 Heisman Trophy award on Saturday night.

Watson's third-place finish was Clemson's highest ever for the prestigious award as both Clemson greats C.J. Spiller and Steve Fuller both finished in sixth place.

The 2015 Davey O'Brien winner passed for 3,512 yards and 30 touchdowns while also rushing for 887 yards and 11 scores during Clemson's 13-0 undefeated season.

He threw for 289 yards and three touchdowns and also ran for 131 yards and two scores to win the 2015 ACC Championship over North Carolina.
