Clemson projected in field of latest NIT Bracketology

by - Assoc. Editor -

The Clemson basketball team is currently projected in the field of 32 NCAA teams for the 2015 NIT Tournament according to the latest Bracketology by the Donchess Inference Index.

The Tigers are projected as a five seed in the NIT Tournament with a bracket rating of 1.728 and a strength of schedule of 1.440 (#42 overall) despite losing to North Carolina State 66-61 on Tuesday night. The Wolfpack jumped into the NCAA tournament projections (#9 seed) with the win over the Tigers according to ESPN's Joe Lunardi's Bracketology.

Clemson (16-13 overall, 8-9 ACC) plays at Notre Dame Saturday at 4 pm in their regular season finale. A win against the Irish would go a long way to supplant a possible post-season appearance for the Tigers.

Other ACC schools that are projected into the NIT include Pittsburgh (#1 seed), Miami (#4 seed) and Florida State (#8 seed). Rival South Carolina is projected ahead of the Tigers with a #4 seed in the tournament.

Many of these aforementioned lower seeds (#7, #8) will change drastically because regular season champions that do not win their tournament will get automatic invites to the NIT.
