Clemson moves up in latest Coaches Poll

Clemson (8-0, 5-0) moves up one spot to a #5 national rankings in the latest Coaches Poll with 1377 points and two first-place votes on Sunday after a convincing 56-41 victory over NC State on Halloween.

The Tigers put up a tremendous 623 yards on offense with Deshaun Watson leading the way with 23 of 30 passing for 383 yards and five passing touchdowns, and he also had 14 carries for 54 yards and a score.

Workhorse running back Wayne Gallman had an impressive day with 30 carries for 174 yards.

"I think we're a team obviously that's in the hunt, we've earned that," Clemson coach Dabo Swinney said during Saturday's post-game press conference.

It was the second straight road triumph of the season for the Tigers.

Other high-ranked teams including Baylor, LSU, Alabama and Ohio State, were idle this week.

ACC rival Florida State remained at the #15 ranking after a comfortable 45-21 win over Syracuse at Doak Campbell Stadium on Saturday.

ACC Coastal division school North Carolina was listed at #21 overall and was the highest riser in the poll.

American Athletic conference had an impressive three schools in the Top 25 poll including #16 Memphis, #18 Houston and #23 Temple.

Three schools dropped out of the Top 25 (including two from the ACC) in #18 Duke, #23 Georgia and #24 Pittsburgh.
