Clemson continues academic successes in 2015 GSR Report |
CLEMSON, SC – Clemson’s athletic department again achieved exceptional ratings in the NCAA's most recent Graduation Success Rate reports released Wednesday, in which data from the incoming classes of 2005-08 academic years were included. The overall athletic department rate of 91 ranks fifth nationally among public institutions.
The 91 percent rate ties an institutional high set last year after sixth consecutive years of improvement in the overall graduation rate. "The emphasis placed on graduation and preparation for life by our staff in Vickery Hall and each of our coaches is manifested in this annual report," director of athletics Dan Radakovich said. "It's great to see the numbers continue to show the results of the hard work of everyone in our department, specifically the student-athletes who have dedicated themselves in the classroom to achieve a diploma." Five programs – men’s tennis, women’s basketball, women’s soccer, women’s tennis and volleyball – each posted a 100 percent rate for the period, while men’s soccer, men’s golf, rowing, diving and women’s track each eclipsed a 90 percent mark. Clemson programs increased their graduation rates or stayed perfect in nine of 14 sports, and seven sports hit all-time highs – football, men’s basketball, women’s basketball, men’s tennis, women’s tennis, women’s soccer and volleyball. The football program posted a record 84 percent graduation success rate, highest since the data was first released in 1998. Football’s mark ranks 4th among Power 5 public institutions.
