Clemson in Top 2 of Athlon's 2016 team rankings |
Athlon Sports released its latest article on Thursday
ranking every FBS college football team from 1-128 and Clemson was #2 on the pre-spring list behind only Alabama.
The Tigers finished this past season as ACC champions with an impressive 14-1 record, an Orange Bowl win over Oklahoma and a final AP ranking of #2. "Another run at the national championship won’t be easy," Athlon Sports said. "The Tigers play at Florida State in a game that could decide the winner of the Atlantic Division. While Clemson’s talent level is high, overcoming the departures of defensive ends Kevin Dodd and Shaq Lawson, cornerback Mackensie Alexander and safety Jayron Kearse is a lot to ask in one offseason." The entire Top 20 pre-spring rankings were Alabama, Clemson, Oklahoma, Ohio State, Florida State, Michigan, LSU, Tennessee, Notre Dame, Baylor, Ole Miss, Houston, Michigan State, Stanford, USC, Iowa, Washington, North Carolina, Georgia and Louisville.
