Clemson Athletics Facilities Update

by -

CLEMSON, S.C. – Clemson Athletics is in the process of ongoing capital projects totaling $106 million, with several facilities on schedule for completion in the coming weeks. Below is a status update on each of the projects. Up-to-date pictures and renderings of each of Clemson’s athletics facilities upgrades can be found at the “Expand and Enhance” page on ClemsonTigers.com.

DOUG KINGSMORE STADIUM

Players are scheduled to move into the new facility as school starts on Aug. 19. Located down the first base line, the 20,000 square-foot complex includes locker rooms, team areas, training room, a dining area, meeting space, a catering kitchen, laundry, coaches offices, and a player’s lounge.

OCULUS / PEDESTRIAN BRIDGE

Work continues on the fan-favorite “oculus” and pedestrian bridge project. Scaffolding is scheduled to be removed by Aug. 17, moving the project into its final phase. While parts of the bridge including pavers and some brick work might not be completed until following the first two home games, the oculus will be significantly completed and the path connecting the north and south lower decks will be open and functional for the season opener on Sept. 5.

SOUTH CLUB/SUITES/PRESSBOX RENOVATION

Furniture is scheduled to be delivered the week of Aug. 10, as the premium areas of both the North and South side are renovated. The operations areas (scoreboard, radios, coaches’ booths, pressbox) should be substantially completed and ready before Aug. 31. Seats are currently being installed in the newly created South Club. All projects are on schedule to be completed and fully functional by the season opener.

LITTLEJOHN COLISEUM

The demolition phase continues, and fans can see significant change with the removal of the old annex along Avenue of Champions. The lower seating bowl has been excavated, and reconstruction begins in Sept. Avenue of Champions, closed this summer, will reopen to bus traffic as school begins on Aug. 19.
