Beasley awarded SC HOF POTY Award
GREENVILLE, S.C.—The South Carolina Football Hall of Fame (SCFHOF) President Kevin Jones and reigning Player of the Year Tajh Boyd was on hand today at the Clemson Pro Day to deliver the news that Vic Beasley is the 2014 SCFHOF Collegiate Player of the Year presented by Hales Jewelers.
Members of the Board and executive staff of the SCFHOF were also on hand for the announcement. South Carolina sports media, fans, and SCFHOF committees’ members and executives determined the vote. The result of that vote was Clemson’s senior defensive end and All-American Vic Beasley bringing in the most support. Sophomore wide receiver Pharoh Cooper of South Carolina and three-time FCS All-American senior linebacker Quinn Backus of Coastal Carolina finished second and third respectively.
Vic Beasley played a major part in leading the Clemson defense to being number-one in the nation in total defense, yards per play allowed and tackles for loss. Beasley, a native of Adairsville, Georgia, was chosen ACC Defensive Player of the Year by ACC Sports Media and Coaches as a senior, as his 11 sacks and 18.5 tackles for loss led the ACC. He finished his Clemson career as the all-time sack leader with 32.
