Baker placed on DL after injuring himself high-fiving

sprained his right thumb on Thursday when a celebratory high-five missed the mark and bent his thumb the wrong way. Now he can't grip a bat.

Baker, batting .317 with nine home runs and 16 RBIs, is day to day. He leads the majors in home runs, slugging percentage and OPS against left-handers.

The 31-year-old did not identify the teammate who gave out the high-five.

"The teammate was a little over-excited, for whatever reason," Baker said. "It bent my thumb back. It is what it is. It's unfortunate. We'll deal with it and move on."
