Auburn's starting running back dismissed from team

by - Assoc. Editor -

Auburn and Clemson is exactly 30 days away from starting up, and there is news on the availability of one of Auburn's top players.

Senior running back Jovon Robinson has been dismissed from the team on Wednesday as Auburn started their first fall practice this week.

"Did not meet expectations of what it takes to be an Auburn Tiger," Malzahn said to reporters according to seccountry.com.

"Anytime you have to dismiss a player, it’s tough as a coach," Malzahn said. "This is a team, and this year, there will be no distractions. You always feel bad if someone is dismissed."

Malzahn did not go into any detail for the reason for the dismissal. He had an ankle injury early last season according to multiple reports but came on strong and had several 90+ yard games at the end of the season.

Robinson rushed for 639 yards and three touchdowns in 2015 and was MVP in the Birmingham Bowl. The new starting running back might be Kerryon Johnson who had 52 carries for 208 yards last season.

To make matters worse, Auburn freshman WR Kyle Davis is out indefinitely with foot injury.

The Tigers will open the season with SEC foe Auburn on Saturday, September 3 at 9:00 p.m. EST.
