CLEMSON FOOTBALL

Quick notes from Swinney teleconference

by -

There is no practice today...normal game week practice starting Saturday morning.

Special teams was very solid against South Carolina State.

Were not as sharp offensively early...defense created some great energy and stops for us.

The players of the game were Cole Stoudt on the offenes, Martin Jenkins on the defense, and Michael Sobeski on special teams.

On NC State: This is a huge huge game - on road, in the conference and in the division.

On ACC wins: it's hard to win period. Any game you win is a relief. If you do not win the game, it becomes real important to alot of people. You never take winning for granted.

On rankings: Just 2-0. All we have is that we have a better starting point that previous season. People think we have good potential in this team. This is a game of performance, not potential.

Played 83 players. Sam Cooper was able to play 16 plays.

CB's were outstanding. They were physical. It was good to see that they got better this week.

Rod McDowell seems to be fine on the injury front. We take high precaution on any dings on the head. We never want to take any injuries lightly. He seems good. He will be in green jersey for tomorrow's practice.

Chad Kelly looked good. It was a calf injury. He was moving around well this morning and should be back in practice tomorrow.

He is careful not to overwork the players this week.

On this week's schedule: will have meetings today and have a good plan for the rest of the week. They will not practice Friday. Saturday will be the start of a normal practice week. I think we have a good game prep for NC State.

On punt returns: wants to average at least 10 yards a punt return but it is hard with all the rugby style punts.

On NC State: just getting into studying North Carolina State film. They play fast and with good tempo. They spread you out. There are some similarities for sure and some differences in motion. We have a lot of study in the next few days.

Dabo said communication is important on any conflict that can arise with the team or coaching staff. Honest and communicate.
