Elliott updates Kelly Bryant status, depth chart at QB |
CLEMSON - Co-offensive coordinator
Tony Elliott met with the media Monday morning in the Poe Indoor Practice Facility, and he said that quarterback Kelly Bryant spent most of last week's practice sessions with the strength staff.
Bryant injured his ankle in the win over Wake Forest, re-injured the ankle at Syracuse and suffered a blow to the head that put him in the concussion protocol. As a result, backups Zerrick Cooper and Hunter Johnson took most of the snaps last week. Elliott said Cooper and Johnson split the reps "pretty much" evenly. He also said as "far as I know" Bryant is out of concussion protocol. I asked what keeps Cooper ahead of Johnson on the depth chart - he was listed as No. 2 Monday - and Elliott said that Cooper has a better grasp of the offense and more experience. More to come.
