The New York Giants selected former Clemson running back Wayne Gallman in the 4th round (#140 Overall) of the 2017 NFL draft.

"I call him quicker than fast. People laugh at that but he ran a 4.45," NFL analyst Mike Mayock said. "He’s got a good feel for the zone game. I like his jump cut and his bounce. He doesn’t have the long speed, but he’s very quick and he finishes runs. He’s got some size to him to him. He can catch the football coming out of the backfield. It’s going to be interesting in New York because they drafted Paul Perkins in the fourth round a year ago, is a pretty good player also, but they’re looking for depth at running back."

NFL Charles Davis said Gallman didn't test well at the Combine.

"Wayne Gallman got hurt by the postseason process," Davis said. "He didn’t have a great Combine and fell out for some people. I always thought we’d go back to the tape and when you watch the tape over his career, he ate carries, he played really hard at all times and did everything they asked of him. He does a little bit of everything well, but what does he do really well?"

Gallman left Clemson after three seasons as one of the school's most decorated and productive running backs in history. He produced 3,429 rushing yards on 676 carries, with 34 touchdowns over 42 games (37 starts) and added 65 career receptions for 473 yards and two touchdowns. He broke Raymond Priester’s single-season school record for rushing yards in 2015, and Priester’s career record for 100-yard rushing games in 2016. Clemson was 17-0 in contests where Gallman ran for over 100 yards. He finished his career third in Clemson history in rushing touchdowns and fifth in rushing yards.

In 2016, Gallman was named second-team All-ACC (media, coaches). He recorded 1,133 rushing yards on 232 carries in 15 games (15 starts) and added 152 yards on 20 receptions. He also was the team leader with 17 rushing touchdowns, a figure that tied Lester Brown (1978) and James Davis (2006) for the top single-season mark in Clemson history.
