Greenville, SC (July 8, 2016) – Clemson Tigers quarterback Deshaun Watson, who finished third in the 2015 Heisman Trophy voting, will be honored during the Seventh Annual South Carolina Coaches for Charity on Tuesday, July 26, 2016 at the Hyatt Regency in downtown Greenville. Over 300 guests from across the state will be in attendance.

Fisher DeBerry, a South Carolina native and Hall of Fame former head football coach at the U.S. Air Force Academy, hosts the event through the Fisher DeBerry Foundation, which assists children of single parent families. Football coaches from around the state come together for the evening, all in the name of charity. New South Carolina Gamecocks Football coach Will Muschampwill be joining the event for the first time, as will the new Citadel coach, Brent Thompson. They will join coaches Dabo Swinney(Clemson), Mike Ayers (Wofford), Bruce Fowler (Furman) and Buddy Pough (South Carolina State).

Each coach chooses a charity that benefits from his participation, as well as his Jerry Richardson Community MVP Awardhonoree, who is recognized during the evening. Coach Swinney’s 2016 Community MVP is Clemson’s star quarterback Deshaun Watson. Deshaun will be honored for his work off the field, which includes stellar work in the classroom.

“The guy has no flaws. He's so talented, but he's a better person than he is a football player. He's so intelligent. He's brilliant,” said Clemson Football Coach Dabo Swinney. “He joins Eric Mac Lain as another Tiger player that has been honored for his contributions to our community.”

During the event, which is presented by Founders Federal Credit Union, guests are treated to a cocktail reception, dinner program, entertainment, football highlight videos and a “Coaches Roundtable,” with all of the coaches on stage together. The evening also features live and silent auctions.

Tables and individual tickets are available for purchase. The more tickets and tables purchased by fans of each school, the more money that will go towards that particular coach’s charity.
