Watson: "live with the consequences" if team picks Trubisky before him

by - Assoc. Editor -

Former Clemson standout Deshaun Watson will likely know his NFL team on Thursday night as the 2017 NFL Draft is finally here this week. Watson was interviewed on NFL Network's show Good Morning Football on Tuesday and warned NFL teams that are currently debating on picking former North Carolina signal-caller Mitch Trubisky over him.

“You’re gonna have to live with the consequences that come with it. That’s how I see it,” Watson said. “I try to stay in my lane. I try not to take the path. I respect Mitch and what he’s done and all the hype he’s getting, but at the same time, my result speaks for itself. I feel like I’ve accomplished everything that I could. I guess if that’s who they’re gonna roll with, so be it.”

Five of six NFL.com's mock drafts have Trubisky the first quarterback taken off the board despite only having 13 career college starts.

In 2016, Watson completed 388 passes out of 579 attempts for 4593 yards and 41 passing touchdowns with 17 interceptions (and his degree) for an adjusted QBR of 84.9. For his career, he passed for 9,201 yards with 83 touchdowns and 29 interceptions. On the ground, Watson had 1,744 yards and 21 touchdowns during his time at Clemson.
