WATCH: Spiers having fun with new QB role

Clemson absolutely steamrolled Wake Forest 63-3 on Saturday as they were able to work in four quarterbacks with Trevor Lawrence, Chase Brice, Ben Batson, and even multi-purpose Hunter Renfrow.

Is a fifth quarterback on the horizon?

Starting punter Will Spiers has been getting some reps during practice and talked about his excitement about playing quarterback during Monday's media session.

"I'm enjoying it," he said. "It's been fun. It's been a good experience for me to learn a little more football so I'm excited about it."

Swinney talked about Spiers' multi-tasking after last Wednesday's practice.

"I've even taken Will Spiers (to QB), he was a really good quarterback in high school and throws the ball better than many of them out there. He can flat out rip it."

Swinney joked that Spiers might as well play quarterback since special teams mainly play video games.

"He is a guy I will probably leave there," he said. "He doesn't have anything better to do other than play Fortnite, anyway. Those punters and kickers don't do anything. It will give him something to do with his time other than going down there and playing ping-pong. He could be a real functional guy for us as a backup. He has a couple of years left."
