Clemson defender Isaiah Simmons is feeling confident both in the Clemson defense and where he is in his transition from safety to the nickel/strongside linebacker role.

Simmons said he has practiced most in the new role, while still staying sharp for any need to play safety this season.

He told reporters after practice Tuesday that he sees a group molded by a tough camp this August.

"When it comes down to the nitty-gritty, we're definitely going to be ready," Simmmons said. "Just based off of our preparation and the grind that we have had."
