Titans' DC on Kevin Dodd:

Titans' DC on Kevin Dodd: "He’s done so much for us"

by - Assoc. Editor -

Titans' defensive coordinator and Pro Football Hall of Famer Dick LeBeau has been around the NFL game for an amazing 57 years and knows talent when he sees it.

Former Clemson standout defensive end and current Titans' rookie Kevin Dodd was been impressive at outside linebacker this year.

“I’ve never had a guy make a transition from a down defensive lineman in college to outside linebacker fit in quite as well as he’s done,” LeBeau said of Dodd via tennessean.com. “You still have to have some patience with him because again, he missed so much time. But he’s done so much for us. And again, he enables us to keep the other outside linebackers fresh, and that’s helped.”

In limited action in three games coming back from a foot injury, Dodd has six tackles, a sack, four quarterback pressures, and one tackle for loss.

“I’m saying he’s learned the pass responsibilities and the nuances of defense (the best) of anyone I’ve ever had,” LeBeau said. “Let’s not put him up there with Harrison, who was the (defensive) MVP of the league there one year. But (Dodd’s) got a chance to be a pretty good player.”

Dodd had a breakout 2015 season at Clemson with 62 tackles, 12 sacks and 23.5 tackles for loss (second in the nation behind Shaq Lawson).

He was selected in the second round with the 33rd overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft.
