Tigers move up in Baseball America poll

DURHAM, N.C. -- North Carolina's run atop the Baseball America Top 25 rankings
continued for another week after the Tar Heels swept Virginia Tech to
improve to 34-2 on the year.

The Tar Heels and No. 2 Vanderbilt own nine and 14-game winning streaks,
respectively, and the top four teams in the rankings have stayed constant
for three straight weeks. No. 3 Louisiana State had an impressive week of
its own, winning a series at then-No. 10 Arkansas. Meanwhile, Virginia¹s
series loss to Georgia Tech allowed Oregon State, which swept Utah, to move
back into the top five.

Arizona State was unranked as recently as March 25, but the Sun Devils have
won three straight series and that, combined with the teams ranked 9-14 all
losing their series last weekend, vaulted them all the way to No. 9 this
week. The Sun Devils were one of three teams to move up six spots this week,
along with No. 10 Oregon, which beat Oregon State in a midweek game and
swept California, and No. 14 Georgia Tech, which was rewarded for winning
its series with Virginia.

The turnover at the back of the rankings continued with Cal Poly (No. 23)
and Gonzaga (No. 24) returning to the Top 25 after short absences. UNC
Wilmington makes its 2013 rankings debut at No. 25, the Seahawks' first
appearance since April 2008. The Seahawks lead the Colonial Athletic
Association and haven¹t lost a weekend series all season.

The staff of Baseball America determines the Top 25 rankings. Records
indicated are through games of April 14 and do not include ties.
