Swinney's Wednesday Kelly Bryant injury status update

Clemson coach Dabo Swinney updated starting quarterback Kelly Bryant's injury status (ankle) after Wednesday's practice.

Swinney said Bryant practiced both Tuesday and Wednesday and is ready to go for Friday night's game with Syracuse. Clemson's injury report Wednesday night listed Bryant in the "will play" category.

Bryant was listed as questionable initially on Clemson's injury report in the game notes Monday. On Tuesday morning, Swinney said that Bryant "didn't miss a rep" in practice the night before and "moved around well," adding he was "very encouraged" about Bryant's status.

The Wren (S.C.) product injured his left ankle on a scoring drive midway through the third quarter of Clemson-Wake Forest, with the Tigers taking a 21-0 lead. He didn't return to action and Clemson went on to a 28-14 victory. Bryant conducted postgame interviews in a walking boot.

"I didn't want to force it and make it worse than it was," Bryant said on not returning Saturday, "so we tried sideline running on it and it wasn't feeling too good so I didn't wanna rush it and try to get back out there and hurt myself more."

Bryant was 21-for-29 passing for 200 passing yards with a passing touchdown and an interception in the game.

Bryant's 67.3 completion rate ranks in the top-20 nationally, throwing for 1,259 passing yards with four touchdowns and four interceptions. He leads Clemson in rushing with 401 yards and seven touchdowns.

In other injury news, linebacker Jalen Williams is out Friday with a sprained AC joint in his shoulder. Tight end Garrett Williams (knee) has continued to practice with the scout team. Defensive end Richard Yeargin (neck) "looks great," per Swinney, and is working out now.
