Seth Beer promoted in Astros farm system

Clemson All-American and Houston Astros first round pick Seth Beer was promoted for his second time as a pro on Monday.

Beer is on the move from Class-A Quad Cities (Iowa) to Class-A Buies Creek (N.C.) after hitting .348 with 16 RBIs and 10 extra-base hits over 29 games with the River Bandits.

Over 40 minor league games, Beer has hit .333 with seven homers and 23 RBIs.

Beer led the ACC in home runs (22) and slugging percentage (.642) and ranked second on the Tigers in batting average (.301) and RBIs (54) last season. His college career accolades included the Dick Howser Trophy (best player in nation) with 56 home runs and 177 RBIs over three seasons.
