CLEMSON, SC – Former Clemson hurdler Brianna Rollins was named one of three women’s finalists for The Bowerman, the award’s advisory board announced Thursday. Rollins was chosen by the board – along with Arizona high jumper Brigetta Barrett and Stanford hurdler Kori Carter – to attend the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Convention in Orlando, FL in December. The winner of the most prestigious award in collegiate track & field will be announced during The Bowerman ceremony.

All three finalists set NCAA records in 2013. Barrett won indoor and outdoor high jump crowns, setting a collegiate record in the latter. Carter won an NCAA title in the 400 hurdles in a collegiate-record time. Rollins set NCAA standards in both the 60 hurdles (7.78) and 100 hurdles (12.39), winning national titles in both events. Among the semifinalists that did not make the final ballot was LSU superstar Kimberlyn Duncan, the defending winner of The Bowerman.

“It’s such a blessing to be named a finalist with these other outstanding athletes,” said Rollins, who turned professional with Nike following outdoor season. “It was an amazing year, and I look forward to attending the ceremony with the other candidates in December.”

Rollins is only the second ACC female in the five-year history of the award to be named a finalist. Ironically, the other was 2010 winner Queen Harrison, who trains professionally with Rollins. The two finished first and second in the 100 hurdles at the USA Outdoor Championships last month, with Rollins establishing an American record (12.26).

Over the next few weeks, dozens of media personnel, track & field statisticians, collegiate administrators and past winners of The Bowerman will choose the top male and female as the 2013 award winners. On July 29, online voting will open at TheBowerman.org for fans. The online vote will account for one full vote in the process.
