“It was crazy,” Rodriguez said via stlouisrams.com. “It helped being able to play at a big-time university and transition to a fan base like this. And it was good getting the heckling on a punt return and in kickoff having the fans behind you. So it was good. But it was definitely surreal just being able to compete up here.”
Rodriguez got his first touch early in the second half as he caught a kickoff nine yards deep in the endzone and ran it out for 23 yards.
“I figured that unless it went over my head, I wasn’t,” Rodriguez said. “I worked my [tail] off to get where I’m at, so I figured my first NFL touch, I’m not taking a knee. I couldn’t go out like that. Got positive yards, broke a tackle, so it was good,” Rodriguez said.
Rodriguez completed his friend's promise to play college football but now wants to stick in the NFL.
“A lot of friends along the way, a promise made to a good friend that I would play college football. And I just figured why stop there? I’m just trying to compete at the highest level, do what I can to help the team win.”
