Report: Sammy Watkins could be out weeks with foot injury

by - Assoc. Editor -

Former Clemson standout Sammy Watkins had four receptions on six targets for 43 yards in Sunday's 13-7 loss at Baltimore.

However, Watkins was in discomfort during the game with his surgically-repaired foot and had X-rays taken immediately after the loss which fortunately did not reveal another break according to the New York Daily News.

"The feeling now is whether Watkins can manage the pain in his foot," New York Daily News said. "There was a thought Sunday night that he could miss the rest of the season. Medical personnel have informed Watkins and the team that there is no surgical remedy for the issue at this time. It's possible, however, that Watkins could be shut down for several weeks, or possibly longer, depending on how his foot responds."

Rex Ryan said on Monday afternoon to the media that he will have a wait and see approach this week on Watkins' foot injury

"He's sore. Hopefully he'll progress through the week and be ready. Not shutting him down right now."
