Report: Miami top target carted off practice field |
Miami receiver Ahmmon Richards, a former freshman All-American, was carted off the Hurricanes practice field Wednesday, according
to a Miami Herald report.
According to the report, Richards' injury is unknown, and Miami coach Mark Richt declined to discuss the injury after practice. The potential blow is a second within a week to the Hurricanes offense, after second-leading receiver and tight end Christopher Herndon went down with a season-ending knee injury. Richards had already been dealing with missed time this season due to hamstring injuries, where after accounting for nearly 1,000 receiving yards last season - he's been limited to 24 catches for 439 yards. He had three catches for 47 yards in the 24-14 loss to Pittsburgh last week. Richards and Herndon combined to make up 32.3 percent of Miami's passing yards production and 28 percent of the touchdowns. The No. 7 Hurricanes (11-1) make their first ACC Championship game appearance Saturday night at 8 p.m. (ABC) in Charlotte versus the No. 1 Tigers (11-1). Update: Miami announced that he suffered a meniscus injury in his left knee and will miss the rest of the season.
