Zac Brooks has filed NFL retirement papers on Thursday
according to the Denver Post. The 23-year old had signed a futures contract with the Denver Broncos this offseason and was trying to make their 53-man roster for the upcoming NFL season. However, the Broncos have now placed him on the reserve/retired list.
In 2016, he played in two total NFL regular season games and had seven carries for 21 yards. During the season, he spent time with Seattle's, Kansas City's, and Denver's practice squads. Brooks battled hamstring issues during the offseason and training camp during the initial stages of his rookie year. He ended up playing in two NFL preseason games with the Seattle Seahawks and had six carries for 17 yards and a four-yard catch. Brooks was drafted #247 overall by the Seattle Seahawks in the seventh round of the 2016 NFL Draft. In 2015 at Clemson, Brooks had 41 attempts for 234 yards and three rushing touchdowns and also had nine receptions for 113 yards and two scores.
