Former Clemson quarterback Charlie Whitehurst will sign with the Cleveland Browns according to his agents at SportsTrust Advisors.

Whitehurst worked out for the Browns on Monday night and the team will announce the one-year deal on Tuesday morning. The Browns recently lost starting quarterback Robert Griffin III to a fractured left shoulder and veteran backup Josh McCown to a left clavicle injury as quarterback Cody Kessler will start on Sunday against the Dolphins.

Whitehurst will play for his fourth team in four years with Chargers (2006-2009) (2012-2013), Tennessee (2014-2015), Indianapolis (2015), and Cleveland (2016-present). He also had a stint with the Seattle Seahawks (2010-2011).

For his career, he has passed for 2,281 yards with ten passing touchdowns and seven interceptions for a quarterback rating of 74.7.

He was drafted out of Clemson by the Chargers in the third round (81st overall) of the 2006 NFL Draft after being a second-team All-ACC performer (2005).
