will be waived by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Friday according to multiple reports.

"It's been a great ride the past 4 1/2 years in Tampa," Bowers said on his Twitter account on Friday morning. "Thanks to coach Lovie and the staff for the opportunity in the preseason. Thanks to the fans who have supported me for the past few years... Good luck to my brothers and buc nation, get get em....#BUC4LIFE"

Bowers had signed a minimum contract so the Buccaneers will not be out any guaranteed money when they officially cut him.

The Bamberg high school product had 21 tackles, 1.5 sacks, a fumble recovery and a pass break up in 2014. In four NFL seasons, he has 70 tackles, 17 tackles for loss, seven sacks, seven pass break-ups and two fumble recoveries.

He was drafted by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the second round with the 51st overall pick after concerns over medical issues with his knee.

Bowers as a senior at Clemson had 67 tackles, 26 tackles for loss and 15.5 sacks. He led the nation in sacks and tackles for loss in 2010. He was also named first-team All-ACC, ACC Defensive Player of the Year, unanimous first-team All-American and winner of the Bronko Nagurski Trophy.
