Clemson and Georgia are guaranteed at least $5 million for their 2024 opener in the Chick-Fil-A Kickoff Game at Mercedez-Benz Stadium in Atlanta,
according to an open records request to the Atlanta-Journal Constitution.
Per the AJC, the contract calls for a guaranteed payment of the higher amount between $5 million or 80 percent of the ticket revenue. The schools are responsible for selling 28,500 seats each and could receive more tickets beyond that amount. Teams are set to also receive complimentary hotel rooms, passes for parking, suites and the bench and tickets to the College Football Hall of Fame, per the report. The normal capacity for football games in the Mercedes-Benz Stadium is 71,000 and next week's Super Bowl will host 75,324. Per the report, Atlanta kickoff game opponents have received $5.2 million per school. Clemson and Georgia haven't played since the two split a home-and-home series in 2013-14. They will next play home-and-home in 2029-30 with the Bulldogs coming to Death Valley on Sept. 15, 2029.
