Clemson saw some mixed results in the polls this week, but the Tigers did get some help in the ACC race over the weekend.
Clemson's week included capping a crucial series win over Florida State last Monday and finished with a walk-off to take a tough home series over Austin Peay. Because of the latter, Baseball America dropped Monte Lee's group one spot to No. 9 on Monday, while D1Baseball.com kept the Tigers at No. 8.
In the fight for the No. 1 ACC Tournament seed, Clemson is now tied with North Carolina at 19-8 in conference play - a game ahead of NC State (18-9) - after the Tar Heels dropped 2-of-3 at Duke. Due to a tiebreaker, Clemson will have to finish a full game ahead of UNC, which hosts Virginia Tech (137 RPI) for its final series, and NC State, which heads to Florida State this weekend (10 RPI), for the top spot. Duke (17-9) also has an outside shot at No. 1 with a sweep at Georgia Tech (47 RPI).
The Tigers wrap conference action at Pittsburgh (109 RPI) after a Tuesday trip to Kennesaw State (107 RPI).
In the national seed picture, Clemson saw its RPI drop four spots to No. 11 over the weekend. Clemson carried projections as high as the No. 4 overall seed from Baseball America into the Austin Peay series.
Among individual ranks, Seth Beer has the outright ACC-lead in home runs (16). As a team, Clemson has five more homers than nearest ACC school with 79 (NC State next with 74; Florida State in third with 61) and ranks second nationally (Tennessee Tech leads with 113).
