Rankings: Clemson drops spot in Baseball America poll |
Clemson dropped one spot in the
final Baseball America Top 25 going into the NCAA Tournament.
The Tigers (45-14) will host the first round of the NCAA Tournament this week as the No. 7 team in the nation in Baseball America’s poll. Clemson won two of three games in the ACC Baseball Championship with victories in pool play over Notre Dame (21-4) and Miami (7-1) and a loss in the semifinals to Florida State (5-4). The Tigers' RPI ranking didn't budge over the week, holding at No. 11. In statistical ranks, Clemson moved to 10 home runs ahead of the nearest Power 5 team with 94 (Arkansas next with 84). Clemson ranks in the top-20 nationally in ERA (19th, 3.36) and the top-30 in WHIP (29th, 1.27). Seth Beer heads into the NCAAs as the ACC leader in slugging percentage (.656; 29th nationally) and home runs (20; 4th nationally), ranking second in on-base percentage (.471; 35th nationally) and third in runs scored (60; 30th nationally).
