Panthers coach on Deshaun Watson: "I'm a big fan" |
One of the more anticipated NFL preseason games for Clemson fans in 2017 is the upcoming match up between the Houston Texans against the Carolina Panthers on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. in Charlotte, N.C.
The Panthers talked up the Texans Monday afternoon, which brings former Clemson quarterback and Houston first-round pick Deshaun Watson to town. Carolina head coach Ron Rivera joins the crowd of fans and media alike wondering how Watson didn't leave Clemson with a Heisman Trophy award. "It's going to fun to see what Deshaun Watson does," Rivera told reporters on Monday. "I'm a big fan of his obviously. I'm a big fan of Clemson and what they've done the last two years. If I had a chance at a Heisman vote, I'd give it to him. "What he did in two years with that program is tremendous ... We're going to do everything we can do make it difficult on the young guy when he's out there." Watson is one of a number of former Tigers on the Texans, joined by wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins, defensive tackles Carlos Watkins and D.J. Reader, and safety Marcus Gilchrist.
