One streak falls, one continues for Clemson in AP Poll |
One long-running polls streak came to an end for Clemson this weekend, but thanks to an array of upsets, another one continued.
Before Friday’s upset at Syracuse, Clemson held the longest active streak of top-five Associated Press rankings (31), but Sunday’s new poll dropped them to No. 7. The new AP top-10 is Alabama, Penn State, Georgia, TCU, Wisconsin, Ohio State, Clemson, Miami, Oklahoma and Oklahoma State. The Tigers still lead the nation in active AP top-10 rankings (35) and trails only Alabama (154) and Ohio State (89) in top-25 streaks (43). Clemson has been ranked in 98 of the last 105 polls since the 2011 season. Dabo Swinney's Tigers were one of four teams in last week’s AP top-10 to fall over the weekend, along with No. 5 Washington (at Arizona State), No. 8 Washington State (at Cal) and No. 10 Auburn (at LSU). Miami is the next-best-ranked ACC team after securing its 5-0 start with a 25-24 home win over Georgia Tech. Virginia Tech checks in at No. 14 and NC State, No. 16, to round out the ACC reps.
