OL commit calls Clemson a 'totally different experience'

2020 offensive tackle Walker Parks (Lexington, Ky.) reflected on his commitment to Clemson recently to a high school publication - saying Clemson stood out as "a totally different experience."

Parks, who is rated as high as a 4-star prospect by ESPN, committed to the Tigers last month despite being a Kentucky legacy and also holding offers from Louisville, Virginia Tech, Notre Dame and Northwestern as well.

“It was a totally different experience versus what some other colleges did for me," Parks said. "My family – we have gone to other schools where we get to speak to the head coach for a total of 30 seconds on a trip. Clemson’s recruit access to coaches is totally different. I was able to talk to the coaches at length and I built great relationships with the coaches.

"The Christian faith that the coaches expressed was something I was looking for. This was really important to me. (The facilities) are incredible. They have three practice fields, a huge ice tub, and chef on staff all the time.”

Parks was also impressed by community of Clemson.

“The fact that the whole town shuts down when there is a game," he said. "Restaurants close and everyone participates as a fan. When Clemson scores, the crowd goes wild. I want to go somewhere where everyone is all in. Some of the other colleges I visited didn’t have the same feel.”

Parks and Douglass High School compete in the 6A playoffs this Friday versus Scott County.
