NFL analyst has Dexter Lawrence No. 1 for 2019 NFL Draft |
Big Dex has the NFL scouts drooling.
The 6-4, 340-pound sophomore defensive tackle from Clemson is still one more year from being eligible for the NFL Draft. However, NFL scouts have been taking notes on the standout lineman. "He has the tools to be the next (Ndamukong) Suh," one NFL scout told Bleacher Report. "First-overall talent. Good luck not watching 90." Bleacher Report draft analyst Matt Miller thinks that Lawrence is an elite prospect and will have him tabbed the No. 1 overall for his 2019 NFL Mock Draft. "What I've heard over and over again is that when scouts go into Clemson, they ask about Cain, Hyatt, Wilkins, and Ferrell, but the one guy they all want is Lawrence," Miller says. "The coaches say he's a rare player and person, and scouts are eating it up. He'll be my No. 1 player for next year's draft barring some kind of injury." Dabo Swinney thinks that Lawrence is a rare talent that doesn't come around often. "There is no limit to Dexter," Swinney said. "He can be as good as anybody who has come through here. He's just a rare guy. He doesn't have a weakness. "He's a Deshaun Watson at his position," Swinney said. "Yes, he's a great player, but what a young man. Lawrence has been hampered this season by a nagging foot injury that he suffered against Georgia Tech. However, during interviews this week, Lawrence said he is as healthy as he has been all season so that bodes well for Clemson's defense during this final stretch of important games.
