NC State's Chubb offers ACC title pick, talks Clemson fans and towels
When No. 1 Clemson takes on No. 7 Miami Saturday night (8 p.m., ABC), the Tigers will have a fan in Bradley Chubb.
Yes, that Bradley Chubb, the towel-stealing defender who played some mind games with Clemson quarterback Kelly Bryant during the Tigers’ 38-31 win in Raleigh.
“Clemson is a really good team that knows how to win,” Chubb told TigerNet Friday in Charlotte, on hand as the ACC defensive player of the year. “I feel like Miami is going to jump out and Clemson is just going to have to gather around together.
“You know I am going to pull for the Atlantic side and I feel like Clemson is going to pull it out.”
If you’re not familiar with the towel incidents, you’re in the minority, as ESPN’s broadcast even had an in-game montage of the events:
Chubb says he’s received some towels from Clemson fans in response.
“If you watch the film, I do it every game. It just happened that I got caught this time,” Chubb said. “It's just a little mind game I like to play. I see the quarterback whip his hand on his towel before every snap. When I take his towel he gets a little frustrated and all that, but it was all in good fun…
“A lot of Clemson fans were sending me towels and stuff like that. So it was funny and I enjoyed it…I’ve got a big beach towel in my car. It was funny, but I am not surprised because Clemson has a large fan base and I knew they were going to go all out for it. It was fun and it was funny.”
