Mike Williams to miss rest of offseason workouts |
Former Clemson wide receiver
Mike Williams was drafted by a pass happy offense with the San Diego Chargers in the recent 2017 NFL Draft. However, the last few weeks Williams has been out with back tightness during the Chargers offseason program and has been watching his teammates practice from the sidelines.
The San Diego Chargers announced on Tuesday that Williams will be held out of the final two weeks of pre-training camp offseason workouts as he deals with a mild disc herniation in his lower back. The few weeks off will help lower the inflammation to the injured area. In 2016, Williams was the Clemson team leader in receptions (98), receiving yards (1,361) and receiving touchdowns (11) for Clemson's second national championship team. Williams compiled 177 receptions for 2,727 yards and 21 touchdowns in 1,871 snaps over 42 games (30 starts) during his collegiate career. He is third in Clemson history in receiving touchdowns, fourth in receiving yards and fifth in receptions. Mike Williams is dealing with a mild disc herniation in his lower back, and will be held out the last two weeks of the offseason program.
